It’s very important to create comfortable conditions for newborn puppies to get them quickly stronger and pleased with their mischievous nature of new owners. Here we tell you how to do this.
Creating conditions for normal development of puppies
The sleeping place of children should be warm, clean and dry. To do this, you should promptly change the soiled bedding. To maintain cleanliness, it’s important to carry out regular cleaning. First, mechanical cleaning with soap solutions is performed, and then goes a treatment with disinfectant compositions.
For the normal development of physiological functions, it’s necessary to ensure the optimal temperature of the external environment. The first week it should be within 25°C, until the third week it must be maintained at 22°C, and up to the fifth-20°C. Newborn puppies have poor body thermoregulation, as a result of which they quickly overcooled. For this reason, the body is not able to digest milk, which can lead to health problems development. Overheating of babies is dangerous by drying out of mucous membranes and violation of respiratory function.
Puppies should regularly receive mother’s milk. Immediately after birth, the female produces colostrum. The owner needs to take care that each puppy consumes colostrum within the first 8 hours of life. It contains antibodies that form the immune system of babies. After 2-3 days instead of colostrum the dog begins to secret milk. Its quality will depend solely on the diet of the nursing mother. The lactation period lasts up to 7 weeks on average after the birth of puppies.
Newborns must defecate. While the babies are feeding on their mother’s milk, the dog encourages them to urinate and empty their intestines by licking their stomach and perineum. If the female doesn’t perform her duties, the puppy may have stagnation of fecal masses. This is evidenced by a tense and enlarged belly and a piteous whining. To help the baby, it’s necessary to anoint the area of the anus with a cotton swab, previously soaked in warm water.
All puppies should receive a sufficient amount of milk. Apply weak individuals to the rear nipples, which are considered the most milky. If the puppy is exhausted, while he has a low temperature, it should be warmed before feeding. Otherwise, the milk simply will not be absorbed by the organism.
The weight of the puppies should increase every day. On average, the body weight of newborns varies from 350 to 500 grams. The first 2 weeks weight should increase daily by at least 50 g. From the third to the fifth week, the baby should gain from 70 grams per day. If newborns don’t eat enough, they become anxious and inactive. To increase lactation, the female should be better fed or given special drugs to increase the amount of milk. If puppies remain hungry after this, you can feed them on ready-made mixtures.
Complementary foods begin to give at the age of 3 weeks. During this period, a special enzyme is formed in the stomach of puppies, which is involved in the absorption of protein. Feed the puppies up to 5 times a day. Irregular food consumption can lead to disruption of the gastrointestinal tract. Normal development is indicated by a good appetite, stable defecation and an increase in body weight.
At the end of the first month, the puppies have teeth. During this period, the female already feeds them less frequently. If you are going to give the kids in 1.5 months age, then be sure to teach them to eat from a bowl.

At the age of three weeks, you should make dehelminthization. This procedure is recommended to be repeated at the fifth, eighth and twelfth week.
It’s not superfluous to make vaccination of puppies. The first vaccination is carried out in 2 months.
After 3 weeks, the kids are already moving independently and begin to actively explore the world around them. To prevent them from harming themselves, it’s necessary to increase the walls of the playpen. It’s also important to make sure that the floor is not slippery.
Before selling dogs, they need to be socialized. To do this, often take them in your hands, communicate with them, play. Timely socialization will save the future owner from unnecessary trouble associated with the upbringing of the puppy.
