About the breed
The breed of Siberian Husky has been gaining popularity in recent years. The reason for this is a visual appearance of the breed. The look of Husky is really amazing – very beautiful coloring, a unique mask on the muzzle, high set standing ears and a fluffy foxtail.
Husky is a breed of Northern sled dogs which have great endurance and are capable of cargo transportation over long distances. They are very lively and active dogs which need regular daily physical activity.
Wool of Husky has a thick soft underfur, whereby representatives of this breed born and grown in the North are able to endure low temperatures and even sleep in the snow. It is noteworthy that the allergy to the hair of these dogs is extremely rare. A molting takes place twice a year, but they shed very abundantly, dropping almost the whole underfur. During the molting coat is everywhere in the house. It is necessary to comb your dog daily in order to keep this to a minimum.
Husky belongs to breeds of medium size. Height at withers in males reaches 60 cm, in girls – 56 cm. Weight of males is up to 28 kg, girls – from 15 kg to 23 kg.
Husky with blue eyes like two pieces of ice are met very often. It is possible to see a dog with different color of eyes, for example: brown and blue or blue and green, or even iris of one eye can be colored immediately in two colors. Heterochromia (different eyes color), or such dogs are also called “harlequin” in people, this is not a defect in the breed, and not a disease. There is a belief that a dog with different eyes is a kind of talisman that brings good luck to its owner.
Behavior specificities
Siberian Husky was bred for hard work in the far North. Do not forget about it buying a puppy of this breed to the house. Husky is not able to spend life on the couch with a minimum of movement. The absence of regular physical activity is disastrous for this breed.
You can find a lot of articles on the Internet about how these dogs can make a mess in the house. This can be avoided by providing the opportunity to move a lot and actively, completely splashing out their energy during the walk. Daily walking should be at least two hours a day. A quiet walk around the house is not for them. A dog which has run enough comes home to sleep.
Siberian Husky is very independent and individual, always strives to be a leader, leader in the pack. A family for them is the same as a pack. It is very important to show a puppy that the leader is the owner anyway. Otherwise you will face problems in the future.
If the puppy is purchased as a future watchdog, husky is not a suitable one for this role. Actually they love everyone. If burglar invades on the territory Husky will “lick him to death” rather than bark or bite.
Another typical feature of the breed is that these dogs bark rarely, but they are perfectly able to “sing”. To sing chorus or alone. They can arrange a concert from boredom in the afternoon or at the sight of the owner – for joy, at night on the moon. Of course, not all neighbors will be happy about it.
Siberian Husky dog is suitable for each family, even for the one with small children. They love children and get along well with them. The main thing in avoiding problems in education is to provide an opportunity of daily active walks.
