When living in the city, the Siberian husky can suffer from the influence of various adverse factors. These include household waste, vehicle exhaust, pesticides, anti-icing agents, and industrial emissions.
Toxic compounds are concentrated in the soil, water, and plants that animals come into contact with. Harmful substances enter the body of our pets particularly through them. It provokes violations in the work of different organs, but the intestinal tract is exposed to disorders the most often. Therefore, if you are interested in maintaining the health of the dog, it is very important to take care of the prevention of dysbiosis.
Dysbacteriosis development stages
Dysbacteriosis is not a pathology, but a symptom of various diseases. It often accompanies lesions of the digestive tract. Treatment with antibiotics, recovery after surgery and dehelminthization can also cause dysbiosis.
The intestinal microflora is very vulnerable to the influence of various adverse factors. In this regard, intestinal dysbiosis is diagnosed more often than others. Its formation signals the beginning of an imbalance.
In case of minimal changes there are no symptoms. Meanwhile a microflora of healthy dogs is able to recover spontaneously in for 1-1, 5 weeks.
If clinical manifestations are expressed, inflammatory processes have already occurred in the intestines of the animal. Lack of treatment or improper therapy can lead to a violation of the mucous membrane structure in the gastrointestinal tract. Against this background, the patient becomes weak, and his body loses the ability to resist dangerous infections.
Severe dysbiosis contributes to the development of sepsis, bacteremia and pyemia. This condition is difficult to treat. In this regard, the owner of the husky should pay special attention to the dysbiosis prevention.
Main symptoms
Dysbiosis is accompanied not only by digestive disorders. It is characterized by other symptoms, among which should be highlighted following:
- General intoxication of the body;
- meteorism;
- constipation, diarrhea;
- reduced appetite;
- weakness;
- deterioration of the skin and condition of the coat.
Puppies may still be lagging behind in development, and elderly individuals markedly reduced the protective functions.
Preventive Measures
It’s much easier to prevent the appearance of dysbiosis than to fight its consequences later. It is enough to use probiotics periodically in order to maintain normal microflora in a healthy dog.
Drugs of this type are also prescribed for the treatment of dysbiosis. As a rule, they contain prebiotic ingredients, lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Their use allows to increase the number of beneficial bacteria and improve the functioning of the digestive system. As a result, the animal has an appetite, and increases immunity.
Such drugs are beginning to give the dog with minimal doses. They are added to food, the temperature of which should not exceed 40°C. It’s important to monitor the effect and, if necessary, adjust the dose.
