— Good afternoon, Yana Adolfovna! Nice to meet you at this amazing event. Let me ask you some questions regarding this exhibition. First of all, I would like to know how do you assess an organization process and participants composition of this dog show?
– Good afternoon! Actually, I judge quite frequently indeed and I dare say I am a biased judge. I judge not only in Moscow but also throughout Russia and Europe, for example, upcoming weekend I’m going to judge in Czech Republic . I would like to note this dog show is organized at a fairly high level. I’m telling this with a sense of proud for our country. Everything is excellent here: professional rings, professional judges, very high level of dogs which are able to compete and have already competed with European representatives. I’ve met here both European champions and even world champions and such level dogs’ participation in the exhibition is directly proportional to the dog show organization level.
— Actually, today reputable participants have been presented. Could you tell us, have you faced the situations today when it was difficult for you to choose a winner?
– Well, such situations happen almost at every dog show! I can’t say there are a lot of similar cases but really difficult situations occur. For example, both dogs are well, show themselves perfectly but they still differ from each other. And we have long time to think how not to mistake and make the right choice.
— So, how is the choice made in the end?
– Oh, it’s impossible to explain in a several seconds. I’ve been judging already for 30 years and every exhibition becomes a great puzzle for a judge. The main rule is to weigh soberly priorities of the standard in your head. What is more crucial after all – movement or anatomy. Sometimes I come home after a dog show, go to the bed and can’t sleep all night. I keep thinking over in my mind a whole ring, trying to catch even the most insignificant detail.
— Of course, a decision making process is very stressful for a judge! Tell us something about yourself: Are you a breeder? What kind of breed?
– I have been in love with dogs since the childhood. From the time I first persuaded my granny to buy me a puppy. All my life I have been engaged in dog raising and training processes as well as admiring these lovely creatures. I tried myself everywhere and now can say for sure that I am from those happy people whose hobby has become a favorite profession. I am always happy to spend time with dogs and never getl tired after judging at exhibitions. To date I am the president of American Cocker spaniel national club. However broods are not born in my house for the simple reason that I am very loaded up with work. Currently I have one Doberman in my house and I love him very much.
— Tell us what attracts you in the breed of Doberman?
– This breed was the first in my training. I was a little girl and didn’t have my own dog so I trained neighbor’s dog. These pleasant impressions remained always in my mind!
— Yana Adolfovna, we are specialized in Siberian Husky. It is interesting to know your opinion: how number of Husky participants has changed for the last years – grown or decreased?
– Observing the current trend at dog shows I can say that unfortunately a number of Husky representatives have been decreasing. By the way, not only in Russia but all over the world. Moreover, a number of all another breed representatives has been decreasing too.
— And what can you say about quality of Husky in Russia?
– The quality of Husky in Russia is constantly growing. I’m not afraid to claim Russian Husky to be one of the best in the world. Our dogs are bought in America and Europe which indicates high level breeding of representatives of the breed in our country. I am very proud of our breeders!
— Yana Adolfovna, you are the most experienced all-rounder judge. Tell us what criteria do you think are the main during judging the breed Siberian Husky?
– First of all, I look at the height, secondary – anatomy, thirdly – the quality of fur. Basically, the last one causes fewer problems while anatomy and growth of dog require special attention.
